About Us

Who We Are:

Peace Guiglo Association is a non-political and non-profit 501(c) organization established in April 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona. We were formal Liberian Refugees who migrated to the Cavalla Region, West of Ivory Coast as a result of the Liberian Civil war in 1990 that saw many Liberians scattered in various parts of West Africa and other parts of the world.

We were fully integrated into the Ivorian communities and culture, living in towns, villages and cities across Ivory Coast. In June of 1995, an unfortunate incident occurred between some Liberian mercenaries and the Ivorian Army in Tai District that led to an egregious tensions between Liberians and Ivoirians, posing a serious security concerns of Liberians' Lives and survival.

Predicted upon the prevailing situation, the United Nations in an effort to ensure Liberians are safe, secured a land and built the first and only Refugee camp in Ivory Coast and named it Peace Camp. Fast forward, in 2002 there was a civil crisis in the Ivory Coast and due to the crisis the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) approved a resettlement Program to relocate Liberians to a safe haven. The United States of America was that Safe Haven where many Liberians from Peace Camp and surrounding cities and towns in the Guiglo Region had resettled. Thus our members are all across the United States. We meet once each year in a selected city and State for an Annual Reunion.
